We are so grateful and cannot thank you enough for your support at our 2021 Angels of Hope Luncheon. Because of you, we raised more than $270,000 for Houston’s abused children.

Florence Langford has had a lifelong interest in protecting the innocent and giving those living in dangerous circumstances the chance to achieve their dreams and reach their potential. While researching the outcomes of several CPS cases, she found Child Advocates, and with the help of her friend Jane Johnson Dabney, she began her journey with Child Advocates.
During the last nine years, Florence has devoted herself to Child Advocates and the children they help. She has advocated for twelve foster children, providing constant support during a very tumultuous time. Even with all the ups and downs involved with navigating the child welfare system, she finds it rewarding to play such an integral role in finding permanent homes and knowing she is doing something to help give the children a chance at a better life. Her diligence and compassion in her casework earned her the May 2020 Volunteer of the Month award, an award voted on by the staff of Child Advocates.
Her work does not stop with just her role as an advocate; Florence spent seven years serving on the Board of Directors and was an active member of the Program Committee, where she helped guide and lead the organization through her input. She is also a Lifetime Member of the Friends of Child Advocates, a consistent supporter of the Angels of Hope Luncheon, and a volunteer for various other initiatives. There is no end to her level of commitment to Child Advocates and the children they serve.
We are thrilled to honor Florence Langford as our 2021 Angels of Hope Luncheon Honoree.
Since 1998, the Angels of Hope Luncheon and Fashion Presentation by Neiman Marcus has grown to be one of Houston’s premier events. It kicks off the holiday fashion season and benefits Harris County’s most severely abused and neglected children. The Luncheon was created to honor the countless angels who have guided Child Advocates in infinitely different ways. Each year, we recognize one or more of these angels for their dedication to the children we help in our community.
This year, Child Advocates is proud to recognize Florence Langford for her years of service and dedication to Child Advocates' mission.

Since 1984, Child Advocates has been helping Houston's foster children.
Every 8 minutes, a child in Texas experiences abuse or neglect. Nearly 3,500 children in the Houston-area have experienced such life-threatening abuse or neglect that they had to be removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Child Advocates trains everyday people to advocate for the best interests of these children in court so they can find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. While the advocates, who give their time and voices to our children, are at the heart of our mission - none of this critical work can be done without our donors who give so generously to our mission.
